Description
The Flooded Room Simulator is an interactive educational model showing how a finished-basement home office changes as floodwater rises. The room begins completely dry. As water enters, the rug becomes soaked and can lift, storage boxes shift or float, the office chair moves, loose objects drift, lower shelves become submerged, and furniture becomes progressively surrounded by water.
You can control the target water depth, rise speed, water movement, water clarity, contamination, and electrical power. Live information tracks the current water depth, percentage of the target reached, room state, floating objects, electrical state, and water condition. The simulator also demonstrates electrical danger when powered floodwater reaches the simulated wall outlet and shows a water-depth history graph. It is an educational flood-response model rather than a real-world electrical, structural, or flood-safety calculation.
How To Use
Start the flood and adjust the settings to observe how water depth, movement, contamination, and electricity affect the room and its objects.
| Control | Setting | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Flood | Start / Pause | Starts the water rising or pauses the flood at its current depth. |
| Reset Room | Button | Returns the room, water, and movable objects to their starting state. |
| Target Water Depth | 0.05–1.80 m | Sets the target depth that the simulated floodwater will rise toward. |
| Rise Speed | 0.25×–2× | Changes how quickly the water rises toward the selected target depth. |
| Water Movement | Select | Changes the current from nearly still water to a strong indoor current, affecting floating-object drift. |
| Water Clarity | Select | Changes the visual appearance from clearer water to very muddy water. |
| Contamination | Select | Changes between a clean-water demonstration, dirty floodwater, and heavily contaminated water. |
| Electrical Power | ON / OFF | Controls whether the simulated electrical supply is energized during the flood. |
| Live Flood State | Readout | Shows water depth, target progress, room state, floating objects, electrical state, and water condition. |
| Electrical Danger | Warning | Shows when powered floodwater reaches the simulated wall outlet and becomes a shock hazard. |
| Water-Depth History | Graph | Shows the simulated water depth over time. |
