Description
The Chemistry Flame Test Simulator demonstrates the characteristic flame colors produced by several common chemical samples. Choose a chemical, ignite the burner, and compare the simulated flame color with its formula, metal ion or emitting species, representative visible wavelength, general uses, and safety information. The simulator also includes an adjustable burner temperature, flame intensity, and an emission-spectrum display to show how different samples produce different colors of light.
How To Use
Select a chemical sample, ignite the flame, and compare the color and emission information. Adjust the burner temperature and flame intensity to change the appearance of the simulation.
| Section | Control | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Flame | Ignite Flame | Turns the simulated burner flame on or off. |
| Flame | Reset | Returns the simulator to its starting settings. |
| Sample | Chemical Sample | Select a chemical to display its characteristic flame-test color and information. |
| Flame | Burner Temperature | Adjust the simulated burner temperature from 900 °C to 1600 °C. |
| Flame | Flame Intensity | Increase or decrease the visible size and intensity of the simulated flame. |
| Information | Selected Sample | Shows the chemical formula, ion or species, flame color, and representative visible emission wavelength. |
| Information | Sample Details | View the selected chemical's uses, explanation of its flame color, approximate flame-test temperature information, and safety notes. |
| Spectrum | Emission Spectrum | Shows the selected sample's representative visible emission position on the spectrum. |
| Library | Chemical Library | Select another chemical directly from the library to compare flame colors. |
01Select a chemical sample from the menu or chemical library.
02Click Ignite Flame to view its simulated flame-test color.
03Adjust temperature or intensity and compare the sample information and emission spectrum.
